Dr. Nicolas Gallegos

Dr. Gallegos was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Utah. He was the first in his family to graduate from college and even passed up the opportunity to play collegiate baseball to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Gallegos completed his dental education at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia. While in dental school, he held the position of Community Outreach Chair for the American Student Dental Association, was a member of the Hispanic Dental Association and provided dental care to many of the underserved populations throughout the state of Virginia.

After graduating dental school, he completed a General Dentistry Practice Residency at the Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs Hospital. During his residency, he had the opportunity to work with some of the most respected specialists in Utah. He received advanced training in IV sedation, implant placement, bone grafting, root canals, complex crown and bridge treatment, and implant-supported dentures.

Dr. Gallegos is a member of the Washington State Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Spokane Dental Society. He is also a member of SPEAR Institute, which is a world-renowned center for continuing dental education where dentists work alongside specialists in order to provide high quality and comprehensive care to their patients. Washington state requires dentists to complete 21 hours of continuing education each year, and Dr. Gallegos completes over 50 hours annually.

He is dedicated to providing the best care possible to his patient as if they were his friends and family. He takes the time to communicate treatment with his patients, eases their anxiety and truly wants the best for his patients’ long-term oral health. It is often mentioned that his down-to-earth personality and gentle touch make patients feel at home in the office.

Dr. Gallegos and his wife have two daughters and a Golden Retriever. They enjoy spending time outdoors, which has made Washington a great place to call home. When not in the office, Dr. Gallegos loves to spend time with his family, enjoys a good cup of espresso, and has a passion for watching or playing sports.

We asked Dr. Gallegos some personal questions

photo logo WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE?

Nothing is better than going on a hike in the mountains, or a family outing to one of the many nearby beautiful lakes to watch our Golden Retriever swim. When possible, I love traveling to see new places. During my downtime, being a new dad keeps me occupied. But on weekends, you can find me trying a new coffee shop, biking, doing yoga, or following my alum, the University of Utah football team.

I had a great dentist that was very caring, whom I decided to shadow in undergrad. At that time, my brother experienced a traumatic dental incident playing varsity basketball. I was able to see firsthand the healing process and everything it took to restore my brother’s function back to normal. This experience, along with my interest in art, medicine and the opportunity to serve others, is what led me to dentistry.

Sports! Sports have been engrained in who I am. I started playing baseball and basketball at 4 years old, and even though I do not play at a competitive level anymore, I stay connected through coaching, podcasts or recreational teams. Nothing is better than a sports documentary or learning about a player making their way up the ranks.
